have been considering becoming a vegetarian, again
I want to do it because I love animals so i have a few questions.
1) what are the chances of weight gain or weight loss
2) what are some good substitutes for meat (ie: chicken beef ect..)
3) why did you become a vegetarian (if you are one)
-thank you

It’s hard to go vegetarian only because are society doesn’t teach how to cook vegetarian or how to get our nutrition. But very easy once you know how or have proper guidance. Places to start: Free cooking video’s: Post Punk Kitchen on goggle video’s, use google’s search engine or at theppk.com
Best cooking book: Chinese Vegetarian Cuisine by Byanna Clark Grogan. Her cooking DVD is out now!!
Best nutrition book: The Vegetarian Way by Messina PhD & Messina R.D, MD.
1.) Chances very high for losing weight as long as you don’t start eating more non-whole grain carbs or coconuts or avacadoes than you were.
2.) "Meats":
Morning Star Starter Strips "Chicken" or "Steak"
Boca "Chicken" patties
Apple Spiced or Tomatoe Artichoke St Yves hot dogs (plain hot dogs and deli meat is …. not tasteful)
Gimme Lean "Hamburger" or "Sausage" style
Sausages (not hot dogs), any brand
–I order on-line with a local Buddhist group for many gourmet specialty soy meats, like vegetarian "bouches" (spanish for cow stomach), shrimp, crispy chicken, drum sticks
High Quality Tofu: Sacramento Tofu Company (very cheap in bulk bins at health/Co-op stores and yummier than that crap-tasting tofu at grocery stores and most restaurants). Will pick up taste of sauces if extract water with paper towel & marinate.
Most of the time I just use the morning star strips and change the sauces I use. Learning about sauces is very impt. I think. One quick example, Trader Joe’s pineapple salsa put into chicken strips after crispy.
Sometimes I go to in&out, order their veggie hamburger "animal style" for $1.29 and put in my own boca hamburger that I cooked at home. Tastes just like normal in&out hamburgers. Today I grilled plain soy sausages, cut up, and put in spaggetti O’s.
3.) Became vegetarian because the commercial industry’s treatment of animals is worse than anything one can imagine on their own. (Once I learned the dairy industry practices, went mostly vegan… lot’s of other products for diary substitutes…for example, Follow Your Heart Veganaise…blue lid mayo, green lid miracle whip.)
1] if you eat too much curb and fat.
2] tofu
3] love animals.
