Seeing a dietitian who specifies in vegan diets would be a good idea.

Some of the common reasons for weight gain on a vegan diet are: medications, hormonal changes, stress, less physical activity…

And direct diet-related reasons could be: overdependence on nuts/nut butters/seeds; too many dried fruits; too many refined carbs; beverages – lots of carbs!; too much food in general to compensate for your level of activity; salad dressings; cooking with oil; underdependence on vegetables.

    Good luck! :)

Your probably eating too many of the wrong things. Being a Vegan is a hard thing to do.

Go see a dietitian and see what they offer for you.

Or, you could have a slow thyroid and the diet is aggravating it.

    Carbs! Watch your carbs.

You need beans and rice to get complete proteins, but watch the starchy vegetable portion sizes. A half cup of beans or rice is enough! Eat mostly lower starch veggies. Peppers, squash, onions, celery. Minimize starchy beans, potatoes, wheat products, especially bread. Add more broccoli, brussel sprouts.

If you are eating some animal products like cheese, cut that back as well or substitute lower fat cheeses or cheese products like Happy Cow.

Looking at your diet, you can decide if I nailed it.

You just don’t complete your diet without lean meats. i used to be a vegan too but my body needed more protein so i started eating it again. maybe you should try eating more foods with protein and less of the same foods your eating. your body’s just trying to get all it needs to stay healthy.
    -I did for the animals 2 and i still don’t eat a lot of it ; )

I am not vegan, I’m vegetarian, but my friend is vegan. She told me around a year ago, that she had starting gaining wait too and she wasn’t do anything different. She had said though, that it could just also be like your metabolism may be changing. I thought that was a good explanation.

Did you overcompensate with carbs? That happens to some vegetarians and vegans. If it’s not that, it could be due to any number of other things: other change in diet, change in physical activeness, medical issue, or just a random change in your body’s metabolism.

It really is depending on what you are eating…. I would also look into you wheat intake if carbs are not the issue, also as others said have your thyroid checked

If you eat a lot of vegan junkfood like soy ice cream, vegan baked goods, tofu pups, and margarine-loaded foods, you’re going to gain weight.

If you sit around all day at work and at home, you’re going to gain weight.

It’s not just about being vegan. You still have to eat healthy and balanced in order to stay in shape and feel your healthiest. Besides, being a vegan is tough without eating tons of fruits and veggies! Treat your body to a tropical fruit salad and a good jog in the park.
