Why are so many people becoming a vegetarian now?

I’m not saying it a bad thing(I’m a vegetarian) but it’s like they do it for a "scene" now. I’ve realized a lot of the people who are becoming vegetarian are the same. They’re emo or all under the same group. Is it supposed to be like a new trend now? Like scene hair and crap…

It’s a lifestyle. Everyone has a reason, many reasons differ. However, often when people mature into adulthood, their lifestyles change. Many vegetarians revert to eating meat, but at the same time, many older people such as me tend to eat more vegetables because our bodies have changed and vegetables do help you to stay trim.

I became a vegetarian because I got tired of feeling guilty whenever my dad made a pork chop, but I think the reason people are becoming vegetarians is that people want a healthier life style.

It might be due in part to the presence of movies like Food, Inc. that really show the actual dangers of eating, among other things, meat. But that’s not really for emos.
For the whole "trendy"-ness of it, I’d say it’s probably because it’s an uncommon and unconformative thing to do and they like that. Plus they "respect the Earth and all it’s creatures" or some hypocritcal nonsense that makes sense coming from anyone but them.
    FYI, I’ve been a vegetarian and/or a vegan since… well, birth

yes, i believe a lot of people are becoming vegetarian just to be with the "fad" i’ve also noticed how they’ll still eat gelatin or gravy, and they’ll just pick the meat off of their food and eat it too. i mean it’s good because they’re eating less meat, but people who call theirselves vegetarian and are’nt really kind of bug me

either way, it is a good thing, and i hope it becomes more commonplace

A friend of mine started eating organic foods whenever possible and the cost of organic meat was a bit out of his price range. So basically he went vegetarian due to budget reasons.

I’m not a vegetarian, but it’s not uncommon for me to not eat meat for long periods of time (days to weeks) because I just forget most of the time.

so what. if you have a cause u believe in you BETTER MAKE IT TRENDY
do u want it to be reserved for the ULTRA CHIC 1% MINORITY is it too good for the common man? or tired sceenster? whats your problem omg
ur the fake not them. a REAL vegetarian or vegan would want it to be as commonplace and widespread as possible AND FOR ANY REASON.

It may be trendy but it is also healthy.
Don’t get me wrong – I love a thick juicy steak but I know that red meat is hard on my body.
