Vegetarianism is the practice of a diet that excludes meat (including game and slaughter by-products; fish, shellfish and other sea animals; and poultry). There are several variants of the diet, some of which also exclude eggs and/or some products produced from animal labour such as dairy products and honey.

The vegan diet is a form of vegetarianism which excludes all animal products from the diet, such as meat, poultry, fish, dairy products, eggs, and honey. Those who practice veganism for ethical reasons often exclude animal products from their diet as part of a larger practice of abstaining from the use of animals for any purpose (e.g. leather, fur, etc.), often out of support for animal rights.

Most vegetarians consume dairy products, and many eat eggs. Lacto-vegetarianism includes dairy products but excludes eggs, ovo-vegetarianism includes eggs but not dairy, and lacto-ovo vegetarianism includes both eggs and dairy products.

Your question is odd.

You need.. patience? Discipline?

A health diet that still incorporates enough protein -- try beans, lentils, and a lot of green vegetables.

Good luck.

Nope, to be vegetarian is fine, you will get all the nutrition you need from what you are eating, with no meat. But if you chose to become vegan like me, you would need to take vitamin B12 supplements, and do a lot of research into nutrition.

Firstly, good on you for looking into becoming a veggie! For me, going vegetarian and subsequently vegan was the best life decision I've ever made, and I haven't looked back since. :)

The only real requirement for a vegetarian is to exclude any animals from your diet; this includes chickens, cows, fish... you name any animal, and you shouldn't eat it in order to be a vegetarian. You may also want to be careful of certain animal products; the two main things to watch are rennet (an enzyme used primarily for cheese, extracted from the inside of a cow's fourth stomach chamber, which requires slaughter or intensive operation to obtain) and gelatin (used as a gelling agent in food and cosmetics among other things, found in "gummy" food such as marshmallows, some low-fat yoghurts and many varieties of sweets, sometimes referred to as E441).

Essentially, to be a vegetarian you just need to keep an eye on your diet. Properly planned out veggie diets are fully sufficient in terms of nutrition, and believe me when I say vegetarian/vegan food is MUCH tastier when cooked properly.

Good luck! :)

If it's animal cruelty you care about go to www.myspace.com/actionforanimals. It talks about why you should go vegan. But at your age it might be bad for your growth. See a dietician!!

It doesn't require a lot of things. You need to be dedicated and be good with the diet and make sure you get the right nutrients and are eating the right things. Good luck on your vegetarianism!

There are no special requirements. =) The human body can get everything it needs from a vegetarian diet. I suggest finding some healthy vegetarian recipes that you like and writing them down. There are imitation meats and other substitutes for meat and they are there to help you if you're new to being vegetarian. Veggie burgers are usually pretty good. You can almost always substitute black beans for ground meat, etc. The main thing that you have to keep in mind as far as nutrition is eating some iron every day. Sources of iron are: spinach, whole grains, beans, nuts, dried fruit, broccoli, etc. Really easy!

Uh...you stop eating animals' flesh? That's the only requirement I know of for becoming a vegetarian. Google "vegetarian starter guide"; there are many organizations that offer tips on going veg, and most have a few simple recipes.
