Put the yum into your meals with more than 85 mouthwatering vegan recipes!
When Lauren Ulm went vegan, she faced the typical onslaught of questions from acquaintances
and more than the occasional wince from unsuspecting dinner guests. Vowing to
prove that vegan food can be decadent and delicious—and not a bland stand-in for ‘normal’
food—she created a blog, veganyumyum.com. What began as a hobby became an obsession,
winning her not only legions of vegan and non-vegan foodie fans, but also the 2008 Best
Veggie Blog Award from VegNews magazine.
Here in her debut cookbook, Lauren shows that vegan food is anything but dull, with her creative
and quirky twists on everything from crowd-pleasing appetizers to indulgent desserts, from easy
weekend breakfasts to speedy weeknight dinners, plus holiday- and company-worthy fare you can
serve with pride.

This book is catchy when you first see the pics. My friends and myself ried out a few recipes but they don’t taste good. Many ingredients are hard to find and unheard of. [...]
it is much nicer and many more customers have reviwed. btw what’s the big deal if the author takes the pics? Any decent camera does the job these days. Just google search on recipe blogs and you will see plenty of awesome blogs with beautiful pics taken by amateur photographers/bloggers. This author/book is making money from catchy pics. We are not at all happy. This is our personal experience.

I was a tester for this book. Although I never recieved an actual copy as promised, I did see a copy of the manuscript. The pictures are very nice and some of the recipes were pretty good, but I also feel as another reviewer did that there are better books out there and even better ones on the horizon. I also tested for American Vegan Kitchen, Vegan Diner, and Viva Vegan which will all be out this year. The recipes are outstanding and the authors appreciate their audience and their testers. Save your cookbook budget $$’s for these books. I think you can pre-order now too!

i have made a chili, a cornbread, and a key lime pie from this book. All three turned out boring. The pictures were so gorgeous they made my mouth water but the food did not live up at all.
The chili recipe calls for some pricey ingredients (lots of seitan, mushrooms, chipotles)- it makes a $15 pot of chiili, that doesnt taste as good as many bean-bassed recipes.
Save your money- I have no idea why this book has such good ratings…

Known for her breathtaking photography and step-by-step visuals, Boston-based Lauren Ulm debuts the long-awaited ‘Vegan Yum Yum,’ incorporating these visual elements into more than 85 recipes. One look at the perfectly plated dishes showcased by Ulm’s natural photographer’s eye, and the recipes might seem daunting. A quick read through the directions, though, and it becomes clear that delicious meals don’t have to be complex. With main courses such as rich Gnocchi with Thyme Vinaigrette, and satisfying Chipotle Basil Corn Chowder, ‘Yum Yum’ makes mealtime pain-free and pleasurable with an anyone-can-do-it attitude (Ulm vocalizes her own lack of professional training, both in the kitchen and behind the camera). Quintessential soups, salads, appetizers, and even drool-worthy drinks fill the pages, providing a full-color guide for everyday meals.

I’m not sure why ANYONE would put a 1 star review on this cookbook. The pictures are beautiful, AND TAKEN BY THE AUTHOR herself…(she dabbles in photography). I had this app for my iphone, and we have enjoyed everything in it so I was more than excited to see her publish a book! Perhaps the 1 star reviewer never read any of the blogs??? This cookbook is nice for the beginner vegan and great for the veteran vegan alike. Her candid responses are a joy to read. I absolutely hate cookbooks with bland explanations and NO pictures, it’s like going in TJ MAX searching for a good find spending hours flipping through clothes where as this cookbook is like front row seats to a fashion show! No need to dig the pictures and descriptions are there in big bold beautiful letters and pictures!
Buy the book! Buy the book! BUY THE BOOK!
I also purchased this book along with Vegan Brunch, another great cookbook with candid descriptions and beautiful pictures
