Tips for becoming a vegetarian?

I have recently become a vegetarian. My sister is a vegetarian so I already know quite a bit about the vegetarian diet, but I thought I’d post online to see if anyone has any tips I don’t already know about. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Thank you to everyone for you tips suggestions! You’ve all really helped! Thanks again!

Try meat subsitutes, like soya burgers etc.
And also, buy a large recipe book for vegetarians so you casn make your meals just as interresting as they were before you became a vegetarian
    Hope this helps x

MorningStar Farms products are amazing. So much better than Boca products, at least in my opinion.

eat lots of nuts and pasta with oils. these will give you healthy fats and proteins and you wont feel like you are missing out from not eating meat

Try and be as varied as possible with your food. Different fruits and veggies every day. Beans, lentils, chickpeas, tofu, houmous.

Try not to rely too much on cheese, this is an easy trap to fall into for new vegetarians and many vegetarians have high cholesterol for this reason.

Alpro Soya make little chocolate pudding pots sold in fours like yoghurts but they are not chilled, and these are fortified with calcium, vitB12 and omega3 and 6. They are also yummy.

Tofu is nice but you’ve got to know how to cook it! When we were young my bro was veggie and my mum bought some tofu once and just boiled it! It was tasteless and wierd. Gotta flavour it and grill or fry it to crisp it up.

If you are in the UK, Tesco do a very nice tinned mixed bean salad in a vinaigrette dressing.

Hope this is helpful. Also there are loads of recipes available on the internet, just do a search.

Easiest to cut out all red meat first, then cut out all poultry.
Quinoa is a good protein filled grain you can get at health food stores.
Fake ‘meats’ are great also tofu, and tempeh are good protien sources.
Soya milk is also good for nutrients, but regular milk has them too… I just find that soya milk has a nicer flavour and texture than real milk

Eat lots of soy, soy milk, nuts or anything in the substitutes category to get more protein. Also, you could try lentils for more protein. And you should eat as many vegetables as possible (obviously) :P and also try to keep meat out of the house so that you don’t get tempted to eat it :P
