Product Description
A born food-lover, raised in California on “the best Mexican food in the country” and her father’s “traditional Southern soul food,” Alicia C. Simpson couldn’t imagine giving up her favorite dishes to become vegan. Animal-free food might be healthier, but could it match the tastes of home—like fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, or a bowl of chili? Three years after Alicia took the vegan plunge, Quick and Easy Vegan Comfort Food answers that question with a resounding “yes!”
Here is the essential cookbook for any of America’s more than 6 million vegans who miss the down-home tastes they remember (or want to try), or for vegetarians and even meat-eaters who want to add more plant-based… More >>

I LOVE THIS COOKBOOK! Not just because the author is black, and lets face it that is a plus, but because this is a really good cookbook.
When I first saw it in Barns and Noble I didn’t buy it because I didn’t think I should pay cover price for a cookbook with an Onion Ring recipe in it. I mean come on, do I really need a cookbook to tell me how to cook Onion Rings, Collard Greens, and Grilled Vegetables?! I thought NO and I’m sure you are thinking NO as well.
Well I’m here to shed some light on this for everyone! I had those Onion Rings and they were ssssoooo good! But what made me turn around and buy the book was the Peach Cobbler recipe! IT IS TO DIE FOR! REALLY! I made it for a non-vegan and they loved it. Also I can’t get over the “Tuno Tempeh Sandwich, the “Something’s Fishy Tacos”, the “Homemade Veggie Burger”, and late but not least and the BEST recipe in the book, “Filet o’ Tofish Sandwiches” (I pressed the Tofu before hand). Can you tell I’m a big vegan fish girl?! Even the Tarter Sauce was good.
I can’t wait until the next cookbook. What I like most is she goes through all the stuff she uses in the book and reviews it first thing. In my opinion it is the BEST book for new vegans. If you are already a vegan cook the beginning isn’t really important so skip ahead to the recipes. She goes into the veal a little too much for me as a long time vegan.
But really the recipes are GREAT for the most part quick and easy. So of the stuff you have to really look for in Whole Foods if you’re not use to cooking with it.
Some of the recipes in this book are high in fat and calories so just be where , it’s called COMFORT food for a reason!

..the recipes contained Nutritional Values. Going vegan doesn’t necessarily mean the recipes are low-cal or low fat, and it would be great to be able to make good decisions on dishes based on the standard nutritional values.

As my son and I are newbie vegans, I have searched high and low for GOOD FOOD recipes. This has been the easiest to use with the most delicious recipes for true comfort food.
Everytime I make something from the book, we both laugh and say, boy, it really is sweet to be vegan.
I use the book almost daily – always with great results
I have yet to have a flop. Thanks to the author for doing such a terrific job. Whatever she writes, I will look forward to purchasing

I’ve been using this cookbook for the last few weeks and continue to be delighted by the high-quality meals, the easily accessible ingredients, and the simplicity of the instructions. The “Red Beans with Quinoa” and the “Fried Chik’n Seitan” rock my world. Buy this book and you won’t be disappointed!

With some books you have to buy special food items to make anything. This book makes it possible to find the ingredients in your pantry. Very easy!
