Many researchers say that the point in human evolution where apes began to think occured when vegetarian apes started eating meat.
Even today, Vegans have trouble getting enough protien and enough phosphates. Lack of either of these can cause you to have trouble with logical thinking.
If you do go veggie, consider ovo-lacto to get enough protien and trace elements.
Show them the Earthlings documentary here:

Even if they don’t go vegan with you, they’ll understand it better.
you might as well try it, you can always go back to eating meat if you choose.
i suggest trying vegetarianism first.
veganism is different for everyone, most vegans are fine with people eating meat in front of them, some aren’t but it is pretty ridiculous for you to expect other people to change their diets just because you did.
the worst mistake you can make when going veg*n is replacing meat and/or dairy with white refined carbs. you will most likely gain weight and miss out on many nutrients. being veg*n is easy basically go to the store and buy fresh veggies, fruits, canned beans, soy products, nuts, and healthy grains (i.e couscous, qunioa, 100% whole wheat pasta, ete) and just find different ways to cook them and make them. you want your diet to revolve around fruits and vegetables that is where you will be getting the majority of your nutrients.
your parents can’t stop you from being vegan, what are they gonna do, shove a steak down your throat?
you should do it. check out peta.com
and that video the person above me posted, that is sure to make you go vegan. i just skimmed through parts of it and had to stop becos i seriously almost started crying.
Try vegetarianism first. Being vegan is very hard because you can hardly eat ANYTHING and it is hard to get protein, etc.
banjoman, what the hell are you on about? Most people get much more protein than they need every day. I don’t know one vegan with a protein deficiency. Do you work for an abattoir or something?
To those who would say the veganism is too hard, I wonder if they’ve ever tried it.
I found veganism was an incredibly easy change to make in my life.
You should know, most of us have family and friends that are not vegan, and we survive just fine.
Your parents should not dictate what’s important to you.
Feel free to e-mail me if you want more info on going vegan.
If your family are reasonable, they won’t object, provided you show that you know what you’re doing. The most likely deficiency is B vitamin deficiency, so eat yeast extract and yeast extract products, and bean sprouts. Our daughter in law is mostly vegetarian. She’s very healthy. Make a point of reading up about nutrition. The closest I’ve got to a vegetarian diet was spending a few weeks with some Indians. They did all the cooking. Indian cuisine produces thousands of tasty vegetarian dishes. There’s nothing boring or insipid about it at all. Apart from all their curries, other interesting vegetarian foods that can be made to taste meaty are nut, eggplant, pulse (like peas and beans) dishes, and replacing ordinary wheat flour with chick pea flour. And conserve water in which vegetables have been cooked, whether you’re vegetarian or not. It contains vitamins and minerals so use it to make soups.
You should go Vegan
It was the most empowering decision I’ve ever made. It is the natural conclusion for people who love animals to go vegan. Your family will eventually learn to understand and even if they don’t (like my parents) they will have to support you if you are truly adamant in your belief.
Look up the post punk kitchen they have AMAZING, FREE recipes for everyone. Also, i just bought Veganomicon and it is the coolest cookbook with the weirdest, tastiest recipes. The ingredients can be hard to find, but it’s well worth it.
