Like Jones said, there are a lot of calories in nuts, seeds, and beans. When you eat a salad or whatever add some almonds, sunflower seeds, or garbanzo beans to it. Also, use vegetable oils like olive oil– those have calories and good fat in them so they are good for you and will also help you maintain your weight. Carbohydrates won’t be difficult to get enough of because fruits and vegetables are carbs. Whole grains also contain quite a few calories, so if you eat whole grain bread, pasta, rice, etc. it will be healthy and help you maintain your weight. Some food that I love that has a good amount of calories and nutrition are: whole wheat, peanut butter, and banana sandwiches; whole wheat, hummus, and peas sandwiches (sounds odd, but don’t knock it ’till you try it!); whole grain pasta with pasta sauce with bell peppers and zucchini; vegan chili (there are lots of recipes you can find for this); baked potatoes with olive oil and broccoli; etc.
Good luck to you going vegan and maintaining your weight!
don’t lie your really fat and you want to lose weight that’s why your doing it!!!
Drink copious amounts of alcohol to replace the calories you are losing from not eating meat.
A bottle of wine is around 900 calories.
Drink up b*tches!
Bean and Nuts are high in fat.
If you only eat vegetable then there is no protein to build muscles and you need some fat too so make recipes that have beans and nuts in them to keep the protein and fats. The best protein you can get is from egg whites so if its for health reasons just eat egg whites with a semi vegan diet. you will get the health needs of mainly veg and have the whites twice a week for protein.
Eat Peanut butter
Eat Whole wheat bread [Make sure its vegan]
Eat lots of vegan cottage cheese contains lots
of protein which will help you gain muscle and
be fit and tiny at the same time:]
by eating potato chips, peanut butter and banana sand wiches, chocolate cake, and pumpkin pie (which can be made vegan)
Weight loss really shouldn’t be a problem, but if you do experience it, then have a look at vegan bodybuilders’ websites [1].
For UK vegans, the definitive book for nutrition, etc, is Plant Based Nutrition and Health by Stephen Walsh [2].
I have been vegan since September and have not lost a single pound. I weigh about 125, which is healthy, I suppose, as I’m 5’4". I exercise when the mood strikes me.
I use olive oil with everything I cook. I eat lost of fake corn dogs, fake ice cream, Oreos (which are vegan)… Basically lots of vegan "junk food." This is probably why I haven’t budged on my weight! And I love avocados. I eat guacamole and corn tortilla chips all the time.
Eat bagels and such for breakfast. There’s lots of high carb tasty food that is vegan.
