You're 14. You're probably getting ready for another growth spurt. You need your food and nutrients to prepare for it. And you're a VERY healthy weight right now. You don't have any excessive weight to LOSE.

You probably have noticed a paunch on your lower belly, and a bit more hip than before. These things are normal for a teenager becoming a woman. This happens so that you can healthily have children when you're an adult. Don't freak out about it.

So, my suggestion would be to exercise, eat a healthy diet, make sure that you eat whole wheat and brown rice (not white), and just chill. You're not close to being at a point where you need to worry.

I went vegetarian as a teenager too, and I proceeded to gain weight. Contrary to what a lot of people think, there are a lot of fat vegetarians. In my experience, the vegetarian American diet lends itself to people getting fat. People will recommend that you stop eating so many starches, but you can't eat just fruits and veggies and be satisfied.

You're gonna have to throw conventional wisdom aside and eat lots of nuts, peanut butter, almond butter, and other protein and fat-rich foods. It's much less fattening that starches. That's how I've maintained my weight for years, while my fat-butt brethren have been eating low fat and continue to gain. Good luck!

youre probably just growing.. and thats why youve gained a few pounds.

but here are some suggestions

starches (like potatoes and corn) arent all that great..

i would try to balance your diet more.

eat as many fruits and vegetables as you can

it would be a good idea if you switched to soy milk and soy cheese.

(cheese really isnt good for you)

and try to have whole wheat instead of regular. these things will help.

also, make sure youre eating things like nuts and beans to get protein. soy will help too

make sure youre not eating too much sugar

try not to eat after 6 pm

and exercise normally

You are likely eating way too many simple carbs like white rice, white pasta, potatoes, and white bread.

Change all white startches to whole grains and change regular potatoes to sweet potatoes.

Also, remember that you need to eat lots of beans, lentils, peas, and other kinds of legumes for to make a complete protein.

Sweetie, 111 lbs at 5'2 isn't bad, you probably just ate to much over the holidays. Cut back on the starches, and exercise more.

Starches aren't going to kill you, your body enjoys complex carbohydrates! What does kill you is the fact that you're eating "a lot" of anything during your meals. You need to learn about what it means to be full. You also need to, get this, exercise.

When I became a vegan, I didn't lose any weight until I actually decided to kick up my exercise routine to incorporate more cardio and eat smaller portions. Just being a vegetarian or vegan doesn't mean you automatically lose weight...you still have to do the work.

You're probably gaining weight because you're 14 and you're growing- it's normal to get taller and gain some weight because of it.
If you feel like you're getting pudgy and don't feel fit, try to incorporate more good proteins and complex carbs in your diet. If you can't cook for yourself and you're limited to eating more of the meat-free sides, I can see why you're feeling hungry. It's very easy to gain weight and feel constantly hungry when all you eat is pasta, bread, and processed cheese food.

Try to eat more beans and lentils, including tofu if you like it. If you eat eggs, egg whites are a great source of protein (20% per egg white), and they have no fat. Cheese, milk, and yogurt (soy or animal based) are good sources of protein and calcium. Also, eat more whole grains- they make you feel full longer.
If you can't really cook, try to either make easy dishes like hummus (all you need is a blender or a food processor), or suggest that your family has veggie dishes that even carnivores like (vegetarian pizza, vegetarian lasagna, etc)
