Not at all. It will actually end up being healthier for you because you'll be eating a lot of fruit and vegetables instead of fatty meat. Just make sure that you get enough protein, which is important for your development, by eating nuts, tofu, etc.etc. Also, if you don't mind eating fish (some vegetarians do eat it), then eat that because the Omega-3 acids are really good for you.
Otherwise, just make sure that you're getting the right vitamins and minerals and you'll be fine.

I am not vegetarian but I don't see it as something unhealthy at any age. Just make sure you eat a lot of tofu, nuts, beans stuff like that so you can have the protein you need. Also it wouldn't hurt if you take a multivitamin a day just to make sure that you're doing all you can to be healthy. Good luck...

its not unhealthy at all but it can be if your not fully committed and aware at the same time. you are not going to be getting such big helpings of protein that you would be getting say if you eat chicken. now it really good if you like fish and your still going to eat it because that has a lot of protein in it as well as beans and many other things as well such as if your going to eat eggs still there are different verities of being a vegetarian its a big choice and the most important thing is that you do what’s right for you. now im just going to guess that you like eating vegetables and things like that or you wouldn't be making this decision because your going to have to be eating something. =-) but those things as im sure you know all types of vegetables are amazing for you. now i know a lot of what im saying because my mom is one so i used to see what she ate every day and still does. the best thing is do a little research on your own online see what vegetables and fruits have the best things like i said proteins and starches and sugars, minerals etc. everything that your body needs to stay healthy. finally tip a lot of times vegetarians lack certain things that there bodies need because there not getting them from there food i know my mom takes vitamins and other things like that so that she stays healthy at the same time being able to be a vegetarian. good luck your doing a very good thing i wish i could do it but i never could just do a little goggling get some good facts i bet you probably know someone that is a vegetarian ask them some questions. Good Luck =-)

Yes and no.
Being vegetarian wont harm you, but missing out on all the nutrition you would usually get from meat will.
If you dont get enough iron, you'll become aneamic and always feel really weak and fatigued as a result, you have to supplement your diet with vitamins and stuff that usually come through meat, otherwise you'll never have balance in your diet.
As long as your getting all the nutrients you need though through suppliments, its ok to be vegetarian.

Don't listen to the vegan girl that answered first, her bloods probably thinner than water.

It really isn't just make sure you get lots of protein and iron. Eating soy protein in things like tofu and meatless ground is a good way of getting some essential vitamins. I was a vegetarian from when I was 10 until I was 18. I took a daily vitamin and exercised on a regular basis. Just don't veg out on breads.

No. My father (non-vegetarian) was suffering from diabetic since his age 35. He was also contracted with many type of illnesses during his later part of his life. His docter had reprimanded his from eating any types of meat.

I’m a vegan for past 10 years (together with my spouse & 2 kids since born). We’re free from any illnesses (with grace of God) and I’m 41 y/o now. This is my true family story.

Some people may be apprehensive to you with no real self experience at all in one subject, or from hearsay or from what others say. But I’m not. Ask the REAL vegans & those posses adequate intellect in one subject.

From my experience, smart kids are capable to decide the most ethical diet at any part of their age as they become wise.

The American dietetic association(which is the world's largest organization of food and nutrition professionals), has stated that a properly balanced vegetarian diet is healthy for all stages of life(1).

There is nothing in meat that cannot be obtained from a vegetarian source. A properly balanced diet is the key to health. Meat is not some magical food that automatically make one healthy(or even means they have a balanced diet).

As long as you eat a wide variety of foods(whole grains, fruits, veg, nuts, seeds, etc), you will be fine. Remember to "eat the rainbow", which basically means choosing different colored foods(as different colors often mean different nutrients).

There are some really great resources for beginner vegetarians. The web, and books offer a lot of great(factual) information.
