Good for you. It sounds like you fall into the flexitarian category.

    Hope this helps:http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4541605/

  2. Allie says:

it’s pretty easy if you still eat chicken and fish. Just eat "whole" foods….foods that are still in their natural state and not processed.

I usually feel that taking out the chicken and fish is harder than dairy and wheat.

  3. qwiklimegirl says:

I heard if you’re going to go in the service, that the Navy is best. they get the same veteran’s benefits as army soilders.

  4. 515r9 says:

I know lots of people who are vegetarian and many vegans as well. I don’t know where you live, but is it really that strange for your "society"? In my world I’m one of the few people who wants to go out for BBQ. I love my vegan friends, but I find that it’s me going to vegan restaurants more than them having to compromise. Cutting out dairy is very good for you, even though I don’t. But you have to be yourself and live how you feel comfortable.

  5. Deveney says:

It’s very easy to cut out red meat
    and a lot healthier.
With cutting out dairy, i would use soy products and rice products to get calcium.

As for cutting out wheat, you don’t really need to cut it all out. Just eat it with a variety of foods

    Good luck with everything:)

if you need any help, just email me!

I’m not the type of person to judge whatever you do is fine but a lot of people will judge you (especially on yahoo because they don’t know you) and say that your not a real vegetarian.
I’m 14 and just became a vegetarian or I should technically say pescatarian which means I don’t eat red meat or poultry but do eat eggs, dairy and seafood. It’s easy if your going to still eat chicken. you can still hang out with your friends at McDonald’s and have chicken wrap or salad. Just when your going out to eat check the resturant’s site and they will usually have a menu on there and you can see what they have that has only chicken or seafood.

  7. Jessica says:

Vegetarians don’t eat meat. Fish and Chicken are meat. There are no "semi vegetarians" there are only "picky omnivores."

Anyway… good for you for thinking about what you eat. Most people don’t do that. If you’re just cutting out red meat, then that’s pretty cut & dried. I’d say to research wheat and dairy and find out all the little names of ingredients that come from them, then learn to read labels.

p.s. please don’t call yourself any kind of vegetarian. It makes it harder for us by making people think it’s okay to serve vegetarians fish and chicken.

  8. Natastrophe says:

My sister has done the same thing… it’s really not that hard. You’ll still be getting lots of protein with eating fish and chicken so the only thing you probably need to worry about is iron. You can get this in dark green/leafy veggies. Spinach, broccoli, peas etc.

You can replace dairy with soy products (soy milk, cheese etc).

I’m not sure about wheat, but there’s other grains you could eat instead… someone else here might be able to offer advice on that?

  9. ike says:

well first of all, there is no such thing as a semi vegetarian. if you want to eat only fish and no other meat, you be a piscovaian (sp). however, there is no such thing as a vegetarain who eats chicken. i understand that chicken is an extremely popular food among omnivores (i know because my school has a day set for chicken only!), but if you wish to be a vegetarain, you have to give up on chicken as well.

now ive been a vegetarian for my entire life (14 yrs old) and ive just turned vegan 3 months ago, so i know what i mean when i say that cutting out dairy will really restrict you from a lot of food. it will be extremely hard to eat at resteraunts if you are trying to go for the diet that you want, however its not impossible to eat at home. just about everything you eat will involve some type of cooking; you cant have any quick snacks like yogurt, pizza, or toast (contains wheat).

vegetarians are actually starting to be accepted in todays society. have you ever gone to a resteraunt and seen a vegetarian menu? or have you seen any food products in the grocery store that have the word "vegetarain" on it? im sure you have, these are only two signs that show how many people are converting to vegetarains including yourself. however, vegans are not so lucky, a lot of food contains dairy, which is sad. and a lot of food contains wheat.

JUST DO IT….I have been a vegetarian for 9 yrs.Not a big deal atall. It’s all in your mind

  11. Kimberley W says:

good for you! – I am proud of you for taking the steps. look it an’t gone be pretty and an’t easy. but you will be healthier stronger, and the best ever. so just do it! stop eating the crap! stop eating meat and get on a bike and do it!

Go and be strong and sexy!

    Plan your meals.

    1) Breakfast: cereal, toast, bagel, fruit etcs.. – this covers your daily carbs, better to have carbs in the morning versus at night.

    2) Mid morning: yogurt, apple, protein bar. this will give you energy

    3) Lunch: veggie sandwich, grilled veggies, veggie soup with lots of beans – you’ll get your proteins and with the veggies, get your "a,b,c,d,e" vitamins.

    4) Dinner: big spinach salad, or a leafy green salad, with a main course veggie dish. the salad covers your iron and more protein, with great vitamins. – b12

The main course veggie dish, – you can basically have what you want as along as it not to heavey in crabs. like don’t eat loads and loads of paste or bread. but a little is good!

    Hey!

Being a vegetarian *can* be a great way to lose weight and increase your health, but you have to do it right. A lot of people hurt their health by becoming vegetarian, so please read up on it and be careful. Also, watch out because becoming vegetarian or vegan can often be a mask/excuse for anorexia. "Oh, i’m a vegan, i can only eat carrots and lettuce," is not healthy but a convenient excuse for many young people. I worry that if you’re cutting out meat, dairy and wheat you might be on this path and you will have a very hard time being healthy. You CAN do it if you are very committed, but I’d go one step at a time- meat first- you might feel so good you don’t need to do dairy or wheat.

Anyhow, if you are becoming a vegetarian- good for you! i’ve been veg for 14 years now and feel great! You need to make sure that every meal you eat includes a complex carb, fresh veggies and a lean protein. There are tons of great ways to get protein, including beans, tofu, tempeh, edamame, soy meat substitutes, eggs, and low fat dairy. This video on our site about veggie proteins rocks: http://capessa.com/members/storyactions.aspx?g=126786&m=79617

If you eat meals like this, you will certainly lose weight. You will also feel great, lower your cholesterol, improve your skin and just be healthier overall.

A common mistake vegetarians make is to just eat simple carbs and cheese. PLEASE don’t do this! Grilled cheese, pasta, cheese sandwiches, etc. is not a healthy diet!! You will gain weight and feel horrible if you eat this way, so please get a few cookbooks and read on how to make complete vegetarian meals.

Again, make sure you are really committed to being healthy and not just being thin. Limiting your diet can work, but it can also be an excuse to cut out food entirely. If that is the case, please seek help- it’s not healthy and you will hurt yourself.

Good luck to you and please, be careful!
