I’m a new vegetarian does anyone have any cookbooks or recipes to recommend?
I have a few vegetarian recipes that I love and live by but i’m looking for some inspiration. it seems like alot of vegetarian cookbooks are hit and miss. I love Mediterraneann and italian food but I also love traditional comfort food. I would rather not use vegetarian meat alternatives. I don’t eat fish.

I have found a really fun source for alternative foods, such as vegetarian, gluten free, allergy free, vegan, and others. It is from group called MealMasters, and they also customize recipes for your individual needs. I don’t think their website is fully functional yet, but if you want to email me from my profile, I can give you a link. The recipes come in cool little fabric bags, and are on intro price of 10 dollars a collection-great deal! . I have several of their collections and will be ordering more. I also do like the fake meats, so I have been enjoying inspiration from other sources. Email me if you want more info.

Some good reading would be "Diet for a Small Planet" since it explains not only what your daily requirements are but how to provide for them. She also includes some recipes. A companion publication is "Recipes for a Small Planet" (not the same author) but does include a portion of the other book.
The key is to get enough protein without a huge carb load.
Hope this helps.

yes! there’s this wonderful cookbook by an author who really emphasizes embracing vegetarianism as learning to cook with tofu, and to embrace vegetarianism and alternatives to meat (rather than fill your diet with mock-meats)
it’s called "This Can’t Be Tofu!"
