I am an extremely picky eater. What are some good meal ideas to consider when making a decision like this. I LOVE meat, but I feel guilty when I eat it, and the horrible death these animals go through just so I can fill my stomach. Also, what is the difference between a vegetarian and a vegan?

The difference between a vegetarian and a vegan is that a vegetarian (usually) eats eggs and dairy, yet a vegan does not eat anything derived from animals (and usually does not wear/use any animal derived product either, e.g wool or animal-tested cosmetics).
Some vegetarians eat fish (pescetarian) in addition to a traditional vegetarian diet.
I have been a vegetarian for five years (since i was eleven) and i did it for exactly the same reason that you describe and i, too, am a picky eater. But there are plenty of foods suitable of a wide range of varieties – e.g. pizza, chocolate, breads, cheeses, pasta – you just have to be careful and check the product. Most packaging has a vegetarian logo on suitable products.
Benefits of a vegetarian diet: vegetarians have lower blood cholesterol levels, lower blood pressure, less obesity and consequently less heart disease, stroke, diabetes, cancer, and prolonged life (mainly because they are not consuming high-fat animal products).
Hope it helped!
if you like meat try Quorn, it may need more sesoning and dont expect it to be exactly like real meat but its a good substitue if you like spag bol or chilli and chicken
look up vegetarian meals on your own and find recipes that appeal to you and make sure you like them
a vegetarian doesnt eat anything that had a heart beat eg meat, poultry, fish and seafood and any slaught house by-products eg gelatine bt DO eat eggs (normally free range) and dairy
vegans dont eat anything thats came from a animal so no flesh dairy or eggs a complpetely plant based diet

Great that you are changing to a environment friendly, compassionate diet. We do have lots of mock meat like mock ham etc here and very easily available, maybe you could try to check it out at your side.

I think you should definetely go vegan
It was no problem for me I made my mind up one day and never ate meat again. You will get used to it and you will love it. the killing of animals for food is very inhumane and very unecessary. People can survive without meat, give them a veggie burger and dont tell them its a veggie burger and they will love it. honestly, do people really think the taste of a burger or hotdog is worth killing an animal? Thats all it is its the taste lol. Personally Id rather stick to food that wont give you health problems and has nothing to do with anything inhumane and cruel. Once you become vegetarian you will be so proud that you did. It really is an ausome feeling
a vegetarian still eats eggs and dairy products which is an easier route if you are just starting out and it still alows you to eat basic foods such as bread.
a vegan is the strictist from of vegetarian no meats no eggs no milk and no honey what so ever and many have to work up to being a vegan
