When I look back at my diet, I realize that I really don’t eat that much meat; therefore I am thinking about giving it up completely and becoming vegetarian. Will I be healthy as long as I eat healthy (i.e. no junk food even though it is veg) and take a multivitamin? Also, I know that vegetarians need to find other sources of protein and was wondering what some examples are.

being a vegetarian is not as big of a deal as people often make it out to be. Make sure you eat a lot of different things, salad, bread, cheese, beans, fruit, vegetables. You shouldn’t be worried if you get enough protein or not, because most people get more protein than they think from non-meat things. If you like tofu, i would recommend eating that often and cheese and milk are my major sources of protein. Beans, soybeans, and almost everything else has enough for the average person to live a very healthy life. Multi-vitamen is not in any way essential, but it will def not hurt and if your still wanting more protein just in case, there are some good soy or whey ones on the market today. Enjoy:) ohh…and I love Hummus and its one of my fav sources of good protein:)

ok so eat rice, breads, pasta. lots of vegis. nahh, no need for vitamins but then again i’ve never eaten meat so maybe i’m just used to it.

I think you should at least keep the little bit of meat you do eat in your diet. The protein is good for you. Just eat good meat not KFC or nuggets or any of that crap.

being vegetarian is a much healthier way of life, less likely to get many diseases, heart problems, blood pressure, diabetes and the list goes on. The only real thing you will have to supplement is b12 and if you don’t go vegan you can get that easily from eggs. There is protein in a lot of things you eat such as rice and beans, peanuts, vairous vegetables. btw it’s also good to be vegan/vegetarian because there is a ton of torture in factory farms. check out a short video called "meat your meet". I’ve been vegan for 6 years I’m very healthy and happy that I don’t support the brutality that occurs each day.
Edit: the person above is right about some things….but I gotta be honest dairy is very unhealthy. I know it’s difficult to give up cheese cause it’s so good. However dairy is made for cows to gain ton’s of weight upon conception, the milk companies make you believe you need it to get calcium but you get that in everything you eat. If you can avoid it(like eggs) your better off. animal products also provide cholesterol, and your body produces enough with no need for extra. Eggs are one that is high in cholesterol but all meats will give it to you and it’s completely unnecessary.
Due to my religion i have to fast.During my fast i can not have meet cheese milk (anything that comes from animals)But once in a while our religion allows fish.
If you would like to go vegan/vegetarian i would suggest drinking tea eating fish and nuts.

being a vegetarian is easy it just takes will power, and obvious knowing what to eat.
such as soy prodcust (tofu), seitan. etc but i think the first thing as a learning experience is learn how to prepare vegetarian food. remember protein is key, since you will be replacing meat. As for vitamins, i guess they do no harm just take them as directed. I can say the vitamins are a ‘backup’ you never know what you didnt take during the day. As for me im just worried about B vitamins so i simply take a b-12, aside from that not really nessecery but i think its better than to not have the vitamins haha. But prepare, study do some researched, but i wish you good luck on this new challenge.

um, geletin contains animal bones and most vitamins have that so make sure to look. other forms of protein-the easy forms- are nuts, beans, milk (soy if vegan) tofu and other soy products and certain vegtables. Other sources of protein: Quinoa, tofu, soy, rice in combination with beans, nuts, protein shakes, protein bars, eggs, chick peas, almond butter, cottage cheese, lentils, milk, thats all i can think of right now, hope this helps.
