It all depends on your mindset.
On one hand, vegetarianism could make the transition back to healthy eating for you. The majority of people in our society view a vegetarian diet as a restricted diet, and if you’re one of those people you’d be closer to your comfort zone than if you were to go back to eating "normal" foods all at one.
On the other hand, this same logic could work against your recovery. I’ve known several recovering anorectics to use vegetarianism and veganism as an excuse to restrict their diet almost to the point of being an eating disorder in and of itself. They fail to eat healthfully and don’t gain back any of the weight they need to in order to survive.
Of course, this is all assuming that the eating disorder of which you speak is in fact anorexia. If you’re recovering from bulimia, this advice is more or less irrelevant. If you’re recovering from binge eating, vegetarianism would be a good idea (so long as you’re wary of fattening vegetarian foods.)
Either way, I’m sorry to hear of your struggles. I know from personal experience how hard it is to overcome an eating disorder, and how hard it is to watch others struggle with one. You have my best wishes. Good luck.
Are you underweight? If so, I would reccomend eating meat for a little longer just to get up to a healthy weight. It’s pretty hard to GAIN weight as a vegetarian.
If not, I’m sure it wouldn’t be a problem.
no it is bad for you and will cause an untimely death….possibly get worms leave now before it is too late…….go!
If you are recovering from an eating disorder and you feel that you would like to try a vegetarian diet, I think that might be a great idea! I’m going to assume that you were anorexic or bulimic or a combination? Well, that kind if disorder is probably more common in someone who kind of obsesses over stuff…so I’m thinking, if you’re going to replace the unhealthy eating disorder with ‘obsessing’ over your vegetarian diet – hmmm…might be just fine. Just be sure to be the BEST vegetarian on the planet! Consult with a nutritionist to be sure that you will still be able to get the protein and fats you need to balance your diet correctly. No one says you can’t be very healthy and well and still ‘obsess’ over what you eat! Just do it in the very best way you can!!! Make it a happy thing – make your dishes look wonderful and delicious and enjoy everything with all you have!! Bon appetit!
No, just eat meat in moderation,
becoming a vegetarian isn’t good for your health
because your losing vitamin B12, and also your
body needs meat for muscle to grow easier
eat more lean meats like chicken or turkey
every now and then you can eat cow meat
Becoming a vegetarian is the best decision any human being – with or without an eating disorder – can make. You know that when you eat meat, you eat the animal’s hormones and they start affecting your moods. And it’s exactly a bad mood for no apparent reason that can get you back on the road to bad decisions and disorders.
I would be vegan..I know it is hard but it is a good way to stay skinny and eat as much as you want..there are some really good vegan cookies at whole foods and they aren’t bad for you, I know it sounds bad but I am trying to get over one too and I am a vegetarian, but once i started being vegan I felt a lot better
Just make sure to but some vitamins if you start being vegetarian
