How to Lose Weight As a Vegetarian
The fat vegetarian seems to be a paradox to people, they think that just because we don’t eat dead meat we are suppose to automatically have slim bodies such as Tobey Maguire or Alicia Silverstone or other vegetarians. Wrong! The problem can be narrowed down to 3 areas. So without further delay here are my tips on weight loss for vegetarians.
Golden tip number 1 – Vegetarians needs exercise too! Many vegetarians I know that are overweight think that just because they aren’t eating animal fat that their pounds will automatically melt off. Wrong. There is such thing as vegetarian junk food you know! Pringles, chocolate bars and coke are vegetarian but they are disgusting, and should not be consumed by the human body! Exercise doesn’t have to be torture. You can dance, swim, bike, ski, play basketball, volleyball, anything. Be active! This is a key in how to lose weight as a vegetarian
Golden tip number 2 – Watch out for carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are dangerous because they can be converted readily into glucose, the form of sugar that’s transported and used by the body. Complex carbohydrates such as brown rice or nuts provide long-term health benefits, act to control your appetite and sustain your energy levels. But on the other hand, glucose from simple carbohydrates such as white breads, white rice are released faster into your blood and will cause a blood sugar spike. Simple carbohydrates ultimately lead to less stable energy levels in your body.
Golden tip number 3 – Balance! Have a good mix of vegetables, fruits, nuts, or other sources of good fat which will boost your energy and leave you feeling full, watch the simple carbohydrates as mentioned and exercise. Beware of junk food. Being a vegetarian has so many benefits over the non-vegetarian population, but we really got to watch what we are eating as well so we don’t fall into the same traps they do.
Remember just because a diet doesn’t include meat, doesn’t suddenly mean weight loss will be simple, in fact all the worst weight gain offenders are vegetarian diet approved foods. The biggest key to weight loss for vegetarians is to just minimize grains and increase good fats and non-starchy vegetable consumption on a regular basis.
