What makes people think meat free is healthier, the guilt thing i understand, but healthier it's not.without the proteins in meat we are susceptible to disease, since the dawn of man we have eaten other animals, without which our evolution may have taken a different turn and we could have been the ones grazing in a field,it's in our very DNA.
Do what you think's best,if i were you i,d go for a big mac.

Just slowly take out different meat out of your diet to be replaced by veggie meat, for meal ideas Quorn do really nice packaged meals just to oven at home, start off slowly though.
Make sure you eat a lot of broccoli/spinach for the iron in it, since red meat is gone.

Well- i love my veggie meals- big fan!!! (meat is good though).
Tofu and meat free solutions are avialable though- and u can use these i.e. quorn products- to start with and then ease of those things - or stick to it cah its still vegetarian!!!
also, tofu/saoya ahs a meat like texture (depending on how cooked) and taste great. You'll have to explore with different cuisines- i mean diffenert cultures n stuff 2 make the most of your veg meals.
Quorn mince is great subsitute - and it means u can still eat Chilli!!!!!!!!!!!!

recipes are easy 2 find online... gooooogle it.
i made lovely spinach and potato 2day-
even veg wit jakets n cheese etc
Quorn range of food- chek it out cah it is great!!!!!!!! n healthy!

having a complete sudden change doesn't usually work out, so start taking meat out of your life slowly but surely. there are many veggie meats at grocery stores, i prefer the ones from Fiesta, and Wal-mart also has good brands of veggie meats.

i think it's great that you have decided to become a vegitarian
the only thing i would say is that after awhile,
if you decide to change your mind about it,
meat may acctually make you sick.
my sister and cousins decided to become vegetarians for a year and my cousins threw up the first time they tried to eat meat.
some people will get hives.

i would recomend eating alot of protein and green vegetables to replace what you would be getting from red meat.
i know although i'm not a vegetarian i love vegetarian food, and a favorite of mine is tofu, riccota, mozzerella, and feta cheeses stuffed in huge shell pasta.
it is very good=]
also, peta.org offers recipes you can use, and facts about animal rights if you're intrested.

just replace any meat dish with quorn. Quorn make most meat replacements. You may find that you really miss a certain food ie. chicken, bacon etc. but it will be all down to will power.

Meat substitutes.
There are a lot of them these days.

They make it a lot easier to not miss meat.

Oh, and you friggen rock for making this decision.

It depends how quickly you want to change you diet. I did it all at once.
Explore the Quorn, soya and tofu section at the supermarket (fridge and freezer section) and pick up what you think looks tastiest and interesting. You can get lots of different types from Quorn chunks to cottage pie to lasagne. Quorn is the most like meat so I'd recommend you eat that as it'll wean you off meat and fish easiest. There's loads more choice nowadays compared to when I became a veggie 7 years ago so you don't need to be afraid that you'll get bored.
Go at your own pace and whatever seems to satisfy your conscience.
You may want to phase out hair and body products that contain slaughter by-products and/or are tested on animals at the same time. It depends on what you yourself think is morally right for you. Don't let anyone force you to do anything.
Have a look at the Vegetarian Society's website. It's got loads of info about becoming a veggie and the definition of a veggie and what to avoid that you might not have thought about. Stuff like smarties and some beers and wines and getting photos developed (the process involves gelatin) among others.
Basically it's a case of trial and error until you work out what you like to eat/drink/use and what products to avoid. Good luck:-)
