You can become a Pescetarian or a Pollotarian. Both are good alternatives. You don't need to become a complete vegetarian if you don't want to. the biggest problem with vegetarians is lack of protein. its even more of a problem for vegans. no doctor would recomend becoming a vegetarian. i suggest you keep eating chicken or at the very least keep the seafood because is is rich in omega 3's, which are important for your brain and heart. There are many healthy things about fish, salmon in particular.

I think if you want to fight the treatment of animals then contact your goverment representatives, campaign and make petitions. Do all that you can do to change the laws. If you simply stop eating it that won't change the maltreatment of animals. Its going to continue, because lets face it, the majority of people are meat eaters and i doubt thats going to change.

You really don't have to be all or none. Take being a vegetation to what ever level works for you. Kinda like people and religion (think of all those different levels of participation)

I have been a vegetarian for 4 years, and a vegan for 1, so I am experienced in the realms of meat-free food.

If possible go to a health food store, or even a regular grocery store and go to the frozen section. Look for brands of fake meats such as Boca, and Morning star. There are numerous others, but these two make the most delicious substitutes. The chicken patties are wonderful, my boyfriend eats about 4 a day.

They also have veggie chicken nuggets, chicken strips, and just about every substitution possible.

It's really not hard, and you'll find yourself eating more fake chicken than you ever did real chicken!

Chicken was always my favorite meat, but after I saw the way they are forced to live and die it made me sick to my stomach to even think about eating them. There is fake chicken out there that tastes like real chicken, Bocca and Morningstar Farms are the two that I buy the most. My boyfriend who is a meat eater eats them also and agrees that they taste just like real chicken. Good luck, hope this helped. Watch Meet Your Meat that is where I saw the chickens in the battery cages which is very sad:(

that was my problem when i started. i still get cravings sometimes, i just eat something else...usually something high in protien the craving goes away fast. if i want something crunchy ( like fried chicken) ill make corn fritters. (deep fried corn bread, basically) they are really bad for me, but they are good and sets my craving.

Just eat the "meatless" vegi chicken patties, or nuggets. They're extremely good and taste exactly like real chicken, but aren't. They're not too pricey and you can get them in pretty much any grocery store in the frozen/or vegetarian section. Good luck on becoming vegetarian, I've been vegi for a year now and recently became vegan full on and it's the best decision I ever made. =))

I'm a chicken, not many people can resist me.

Chickens are probably the most abused of all farm animals. The UK DEFRA standards allows for 17 adult birds per metre - I can guarantee you could not walk through the barn because of the density.

Surely you do not want to inflict all that suffering just for your taste buds.

surely not ? I don't believe you are that selfish.

If you eat dairy, try some Quorn products, they are light in texture and may help the transition.

The more you focus on "giving up" the worse it will be. I think you should focus on "wow, look at all these new foods" by emersing yourself in a decent veggie cook book.
