    Congrats,

first eliminate red meat, then pork, chicken, then fish. You can choose to eliminate eggs then dairy too if you wish. Some tips which may help you:

Talk to your folks before you do it.

Buy or borrow some good veggie cook books. Learn to cook and improvise with what you’ve got.

Make sure you eat a variety of fruit, veg, nuts, beans, legumes and get all your essential nutrients. If you’re concerned see a nutritionist.

Stay in contact with other veggers n vegans for moral support.

Subscribe to news letters to stay up to date.

    Good luck =)

    P.S.
I heard the first 3-5 days are the most difficult. After that it’s smooth sailing. Good luck!

Read and research how to make sure you get enough protein as a vegetarian. Buy 2-3 cookbooks as well, so you don’t get bored. Moosewood is good, and there are magazines. Of course you need to clean out your kitchen (or use up gradually) the stuff that is meat-related. Then make some weekly menu plans so you get used to making a vegetarian meal. Be sure to get enough protein–it’s critical!

    or
you can order a free vegetarian starter kit from PETA at http://www.peta.org
    or
you can join vegetarian message boards at http://www.veggieboards.com
    or
you could buy the book Becoming Vegetarian by Melina and Davis

Not a site, but a FANTASTIC book:
Skinny Bitch by by Rory Freedman.

If you read this, I doubt you will have difficulty becoming a vegetarian, or even vegan. It gives a month of meals and snacks, as well as recommendations for soy brands.

This book is LIFE CHANGING. I was a hearty meat eater before reading Skinny Bitch, and am now stocking my fridge with tofurkey, bell peppers, and "veggie cheese".

Read "Diet for a New America" by John Robbins. It worked for me! Link below for Amazon.com. It looks like there’s a DVD now too.

    Good luck!
