YES YES and YES!!!! i was about 20 pounds over wieght as a kid and could NOT loose it no matter what i did!!! i went veggie, lost the wieght and became a MUCH heathier person… make sure y9ou do it right though!!! DO THE RESEARCH!!!!!! i attempted this once before and got uber sick from vitamin deficiancy!!!!!
my friend is one and she makes me food sometimes and after some time i was feeling better. So for me, yes. thinking about having more vegetarian in my life.
In many ways, yes. I noticed that sickness was a rarity, and even when I did become ill it was very short term and not debilitating. I discovered a host of new, interesting, and satisfying foods that still are a part of my diet to this day. There was a sense of well-being in a way as well.
There were some negatives as well. I had a loss in strength that I never recovered. That was acceptable to me at the time. At first, it seemed that bowel regularity had improved. Eventually, however, I suffered from severe constipation presumably due to consuming large quantities of high fiber, low fat foods such as beans and whole grains. This only ceased with the re-introduction of more animal foods.
So to answer the question, there were apparent health advantages initially, but after 3 years of vegetarianism I had to make some dietary changes.
Yes, I used to get sick to my stomach a lot after anorexia recovery. I don’t really experience that anymore, because my diet consists of a lot of fiberous fruits and vegetables. Since I had an eating disorder, I used to be afraid of foods high in carbs, but seeing that a lot of good carbohydrates help form a proper veg diet, I’m not so afraid.
i was raised veggie so never actually ate meat to compare but i think its about what types of food your eating too, like you can not eat meat but be really unhealthy by eating too much of the wrong foods like overdoing it on pasta or veggie burgers (heavy oily food) isnt going to give you any king of energy lift but if you eat light meals of grains fruit veg and pulses of course you will feel great
I’m not a total veg, but when I stopped eating red meat is when I noticed the biggest change. If I eat it now, after not touching it for a while, I feel slowed down and sluggish. It puts me in a brain fog too.
Becoming a vegan and switching to mostly fresh, organic, fruits and leafy green smoothies and homemade juices is what made me healthier. A vegetarian or vegan diet full of highly processed, high fat, high sodium foods like meat imitation soy products or a lot of nuts will make you feel crappy.
