Can Fish Be Included In The Vegetarian Diet?

I know that the vegetarian diet is generally less strict than the vegan diet; since some vegetarians do eat dairy products.

Do vegetarians eat fish since fish is not meat; or that depends on the individual?

Real vegetarians don’t eat any kind of animal; including fish.

Some people call themselves "vegetarians" and eat fish, chicken, pork or whatever.

Real vegetarians don’t consider those people to be vegetarians.

sure, vegetarians eat dairy and eggs, but not fish.
if you ate fish you would be a pescetarian.

No, fish is not vegetarian fare. But eat what you want and feel is healthy for you. Pescatarian is the term for someone who eats fish and seafood, but no red meat or poultry.

    Pescetarians eat fish.

You’ll have to provide some reasoning for your belief that fish isn’t meat. It’s not a living, breathing, pooping, peeing, reproducing, central-nervous-system having, heart-beating vegetable.

Being a vegetarian means not eating any kind of flesh.

Fish is meat, actually, so vegetarians cannot eat it. Pescatarians, however, can, but they are not vegetarians of any sort, just restricted in what kinds of meat they eat.

That’s up to you. There are people who aren’t against the killing of animals per se, but the inhumane treatment while animals are alive. I personally am a vegan for health reasons, but I disagree strongly with the way in which animals are treated on commercial farms. But I’m not opposed to hunting and fishing. The animal lives a very happy life prior to being caught. You need to decide how you feel about all this. If you decide to eat fish, choose wild caught fish for this reason.

    No. Fish suffer too.

Plus, overfishing is messing up River & Oceanic ecosystems.

Fish is meat. If it’s an animal and it has flesh..it’s meat.
