It’s easy enough to make a vegetarian version of most foods. Go in the kitchen, and separate a portion of the food before the meat is added. Or you could prepare a side or something else that you can share with everybody.

The answer seems simple but depending on what else your family eats…Eat only the veggies, rice, pasta, potatoes. Buy yourself some tofu to add to the meal. Another good thing are veggie patties. They are made from brown rice, mushrooms, carrots, barley, ect. You might also find that the rest of your family will like the addition of soy protein and vegan dishes. Good luck and happy cooking!!

One of two things can happen when you make this change: either your family will mock your choice and make it hard for you to eat what you want, or they’ll make a fuss trying to accommodate you, until they get used to the idea. Try to help out with meal preparation so you know there will always be a vegetarian dish at the table for you to eat. Be patient. Sometimes you just have to eat what Mom puts in front of you until she accepts the change you’ve made…and you can still phase meat out of your diet one skipped helping at a time.

You have to prepare both meals and have to sit along them. Nothing is important than family.

Just eat meat with the rest of them.

The first thing you can do is realize that your not eating meat will have zero effect on the meat industry. If anything, you shouldn’t let the poor animals go to waste since they’ll be packed whether you eat or not.

Just because something is served to you, you don’t need to eat it. Fill up on veggies and salad and noodles or whatever. I the family makes fun of you or asks why you aren’t eating meat just tell them you don’t like the way it feels when you eat meat. If you don’t feel the need to explain why you feel the way you do just say it upsets your stomache.

You should realise that your decision to become vegetarian is your choice. Not your families.

If you want them to respect your vegetarianism, you should respect their decision to eat meat.
    It works both ways.

Maybe in time, once they realise you’re serious about it, they’ll try to adapt the menu to cater for you more. But preaching at them and trying to convert them is just going to annoy them

This may look like spam but I assure you its not. I just literally finished watching a vegetarian cooking show on youtube. The best way is to make your own dinner. I think it would piss off your mom if you asked her to make a second meal each night.

Getting back to youtube this women has 108 Indian vegetarian recipes.

If you search around there are lots of channels of different cooks. This will give you ideas for meals you can make, or maybe your mom can make some veg dishes the whole family will enjoy.

You’re going to want to do your research so you can answer all your family’s concerns because they’ve doubtless bought the lie that you need lots of protein and protein from meat. You don’t.

As someone else suggested, there are tons of analogues out there that mimic the flavor and texture of meat. Your mom or whoever does the cooking can make the sides veggie for everyone, cook the meat for the rest of the family, and let you cook your vegetarian main dish. If your mom makes a casserole, she can leave a portion meatless for you and cook it in a separate dish. Offer to cook one meal a week for the family, even if you just boil pasta and heat up some sauce, plus throw a salad together. You can make soups and stews and freeze them for nights when your mom or whoever isn’t making a veg-friendly dish.

    Good luck!

I have the same issue as you.
Now, when my dad cooks [not incredibly often] i will just eat the green beans
and like mashed potatoes he usually cooks along with it
and he trys his hardest to cook for me, we buy LOTS of noodles
he makes mac and cheese, pasta, cheese lasgna
we buy a lot of non-meat lean quizines too, so that helps me
ive been for four weeks and a day so far.
    I feel about the same
but when i look at those videos about factory farms and such
i feel so much better about myself. hope i helped!
